script of second commercial.

The assets for this commercial will be very minimal. it will just be scenery ( live action or not).

this is the script:

the first scene is a mid shot of a man walking about, on his way to see a friend. ah he passes by the bus stop he spots someone he knows sitting on a bench. he walks over to him and greets him.

mid close up shot. the camera looks down for an instant at the man who was sitting. the camera follows him a as he gets up and hugs the guy who was previously walking. he then kissing him on the lips. as it turns out they're lovers.

"hey i'm on my way to a friends house, you want to come with me?" said the man who was previously walking. the other responds, "sorry Im on my way to work...". as he says that the bus arrives.

a close up shot of the mans face.
"oh ok welll i'll see you, later." the "walking man" bids his boyfriend farewell with an "i love you" and tries to kiss him but stops midway.

close up of the other man whom is now a woman.
she's walking backwards towards the bus waving at him saying "i love you too"

close up of the man the camera zooms in slowly eventually making an extreme close up shot.
the scene depicts the man shocked and confused.

the narrator begins to talking when the last shot starts "sometimes censorship can change our lives in unwanted ways."
the words "stop too much censorship" appear on the screen. i think that i would be a good idea to link to a website that contain more information on what it is and how they can stop it.

script subject to change.

script of first commercial.

all of the assets (with the exception of the spectators) are depicted in the picture.

the script to this commercial is as follows:

Fade in to the scene.
the camera looks down at an angle behind the man on the building, it can see the streets some what clearly it zooms in creating an over the shoulder shot. the man on the building, whom is dressed very sharply like a business man, observes the city below for a few seconds, then pulls out the TV remote and a way that will show it off to camera.
a light somewhat sad tune begins to play. it fades in slowly but always stays at a relatively low volume.
everything seems well down below until he notices that there is a man smoking a cigarette as he is driving his car (or truck), the man pushes a button on his remote and the driver suddenly disappears. the automobile suddenly loses control and causing a accident. relatively few property is damaged but someone is killed. spectators begin to gather but the man pushes the same button on his remote and the wreck dissapears. the spectators stop gathering as though nothing happened to begin with.

the camera slowly pans to look at the mans satisfied face. as it does, the narrator begins talking.

"censorship can sometimes be a good thing. But too much of it can be dangerous. help us stoptoo much censonrship."
the words "stop too much censorship" appear on the screen. now i think that i would be a good idea to link to a website that contain more information on what it is and how they can stop it.

script is subject to change.

group project story boards

the reason why the storyboards dont have any text is because the song is going to be playing throughout the whole movie. these are the lyrics to the song:

Wanna tell you a story,
about the house-rent blues
I come home one Friday,
had to tell the landlady I'd done lost my job
She said that don't comfort me,
long as I get my money next Friday
Now next Friday come I didn't get the rent,
and out the door I went

So I goes to the landlady,
I said, "You let me slide?"
I'll have the rent for you tomorrow.
the next day I don't know
So said let me slide it on you know people,
I notice when I come home in the evening
She ain't got nothing nice to say to me,
but for five year she was so nice
Loh' she was lovy-dovy,
I come home one particular evening
The landlady said, "You got the rent money yet?",
I said, "No, can't find no job"
Therefore I ain't got no money to pay the rent
She said "I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job"
Said "I seen you today you was standin' on a corner,
leaning up against a post"
I said "But I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day"
She said "That don't confront me,
long as I get my money next Friday"
Now next Friday come I didn't have the rent,
and out the door I went

So I go down the streets,
down to my good friend's house
I said "Look man I'm outdoors you know,
can I stay with you maybe a couple days?"
He said "Uh, Let me go and ask my wife"
He come out of the house,
I could see in his face
I know that was no
He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know"
I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too"
So I go back home
I tell the landlady I got a job, I'm gonna pay the rent
She said "Yeah?" I said "Oh yeah"
And then she was so nice,
loh' she was lovy-dovy
So I go in my room, pack up my things and I go,
I slip on out the back door and down the streets I go
She a-hollerin' about the front rent, she'll be lucky to get any back rent,
she ain't gonna get none of it
So I stop in the local bar you know people,
I go to the bar, I ring my coat, I call the bartender
Said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
Well I ain't seen my baby since I don't know when,
I've been drinking bourbon, whiskey, scotch and gin
Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose,
need me a triple shot of that juice
Gonna get drunk don't you have no fear
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

But I'm sitting now at the bar,
I'm getting drunk, I'm feelin' mellow
I'm drinkin' bourbon, I'm drinkin' scotch, I'm drinkin' beer
Looked down the bar, here come the bartender
I said "Look man, come down here"
So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since the night before last,
gotta get a drink man I'm gonna get gassed
Gonna get high man I ain't had enough,
need me a triple shot of that stuff
Gonna get drunk won't you listen right here,
I want one bourbon, one shot and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Now by this time I'm plenty high,
you know when your mouth a-getting dry you're plenty high
Looked down the bar I say to my bartender
I said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want this time?
I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"
He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock
Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since a nigh' and a week,
gotta get drunk man so I can't even speak
Gonna get high man listen to me,
one drink ain't enough Jack you better make it three
I wanna get drunk I'm gonna make it real clear,
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

PSA propssal

The social issue my public service announcement will be talking about is censorship. It is my firm belief that some censorship is ok for many different reasons. However, i think that censorship sometimes goes too far and causes the censoring of vital information in the process, things that may seem inappropriate or obscene in retrospect but are in fact critical in doing things like raising awareness about a deadly disease or informing the world of issues that can be far more grave and devastating. I'm not just talking about small things like "bleeping" bad words on TV or violent video games but the kind of censorship that can ultimately end people's careers or keep us ignorant of a fact that could cause harm to our society or the world if is not revealed to us in detail.

This PSA is meant for everyone's eyes but i would consider my target audience to be anyone who is currently unaware of too much censorship and anyone who man make fruitful attempts at solving this issue. people like congressmen, for example. at the same time though, i would want the rest of the population to see my psa because even if they may not be able to make a "fruitful effort" there is still a chance that they will agree with me and my message and in doing so will promote my commercials message through word of my mouth which will in theory, convince others in believing the same thing, even those who might have previously believed the opposite of what my commercial promotes.

so far most of my research currently comes from two sites which i have deemed reliable source of information regarding censorship. the first is ( http://www.azete.com/view/18288 ) although i admit i dont agree with certain points the anonymous author made, because i feel that s/he described some of the necessary uses of censorship as negative things, but s/he makes good points about too much censorship. In on of these well made points s/he talks about a book Stevie wonder wrote about about aids prevention but was pulled off store shelves, deemed too explicit. The second is ( http://www.slate.com/id/2102499/ ) an article
by Linda Callanan on slate magazines official website. In her article, Linda describes how censorship can be dangerous in certain times. The article was written in 2004 when the terror alert was on yellow but she says that because of censorship "We know we're supposed to be on guard, but against what, we're not sure because more specific information is often withheld."

my two ideas for commercials are as follows:

first the first one will be a man in a business suit with a magic TV remote which he uses to wipe things he feels should be censored, form existence. however in doing so he creates a far greater problem which he simply censors. the ast scene is of the man pushing the button and censoring his mistake.

the second idea will depict a gay couple. it would start with a man sitting idly by in a public place. then it is reveal he was waiting for his partner all long. his partner tells him that he wont be able to go where they originally planned to because of some urgent business that came up. understanding he bids his lover farewell with an "i love you" and just as he is about to kiss him he stops midway only to notice that there was a woman where his lover was just standing. the woman smiles and replies "i love you too." the last scene is a close of of the man's shocked and confused face.

both of these commercials will be followed by a narrator stating a fact about censorship that is relevant to the commercials story.

if i am allowed to i would like to make the commecials animated. i think that my style of drawing, which depicts "cute" characters, will greatly reinforce the impact of the commercials because of the contradiction between the cute characters between serious theme that is presented to the viewer. however if i am not allowed to make them animated (if it HAS to be live action) i would try to make it stand out by utilizing camera angles that make the situations seem as though it isnt as impacting as it actually is.

the first commercial will be only one shot but it will be a shot that reveals everything at once. idealy the man will on top of a building using his remote so the shot will be and over the shoulder shot of him looking down revealing every part of the busy city below.

the second commercial will use about 6 diferent shots at maximum, however the shots will be as zoomed in as possible. the most zoomed in would be a close up shot and the least zoomed in will be a mid shot. the shot will be, the man sitting on a bench, the lover coming towards him greeting him from a distance the man can be seen on the side of the shot, a shot of them hugging then the man who just arrived explaining he cant stay, a shot of the man about to kiss the guy, a shot of the woman, and finally a shot of the camera slowly zooming in to the mans shocked face.

two more posts will follow including the scripts and sketches of each commercial.
